Wow! What a day. Off to Middlemore, then Auckland Hospital, then back to Middlemore. We left at 7.50 and got home at 4.40 but that is partly because we stopped in Albany on the way home. Auckland traffic was at a standstill around Upper Harbour Highway this am and this afternoon it was Silverdale/Hibiscus Coast Highway that was clogged. It wasn’t raining but there was a humid mist hanging over everything.

Prostho did some work to make me another set of upper teeth but also confirmed that my rogue maxillary incisor was biting into my lip so gave me some wax to hold it out. Showed me how to clean under my skin graft and prosthesis and told me he’d see me in January unless my lip played up in which case to see him on 23rd.

Off to surgeon after the twisty turny route to the motorway and a BIG search for parking at Auckland Hospital. We found a strange carpark up Grafton Rd after driving fruitlessly through Carpark A and the Domain. Surgeon was pleased at how straight my mouth was. My donor site on my clavicle is okay. I’ve finally seen it. Looks a wee bit gory but there are more stitches to dissolve.

However, the surgeon was horrified at the biting and deemed wax insufficient so rang the prostho and we had to do the long trip back to Middlemore again. Prostho was run off his feet but managed to make me a sort of addition to the prosthesis out of filling material – lip is now VERY pushed out, feels a bit funny but looks okay.

I don’t think I would be ready for the upper teeth yet. There’s a lot going on on my mandible so I just have to literally suck it up!
